Rich Heritage, Strong Roots, Bright Future

Munson Township, part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, was settled in the early 1800s and renamed in 1820 due to a misspelling of "Monson." Its dense forests delayed settlement, but its rich water supply fueled industry, including Ohio’s first cheese factory, which produced 10,000 pounds daily by 1880.
